Hey CloudReady fans!
So we wanted to provide an update on the status of the v51.1 release and our progress resolving reported issues. A quick timeline of events:
- August 11th - Neverware released v51.1 for our free users. Very shortly after release, users began reporting various graphics flickering / flashing issues on their machines. Some users also reported problems with their Broadcom wireless devices. See forum thread here: https://neverware.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/216495207-Issues-after-51-1-update-on-Dell-E5510?page=1#community_comment_221830707
- August 12th - we recommended a manual workaround disabling gpu-compositing as a stop gap to the graphics flickering / flashing reported on the forum thread linked above. While this stop gap did fix the flickering / flashing issue for some users, it does cause VLC to crash and some screen tearing - so this is obviously not a long-term solution.
- August 16th - we created Blocker Bugs in our Public Bug Tracker to consolidate reports and provide additional transparency to the issue. https://neverware.atlassian.net/browse/CFV-19 & https://neverware.atlassian.net/browse/CFV-20
- August 22nd - the Neverware engineering team continues to work towards a solution
We are hard at work to resolve these issues. While it's difficult sometimes to show the progress externally of the development team - we wanted to reach out and let our users know that we are working diligently to release a new version of v51.1 to the public as soon as we can.
We appreciate your patience, feedback and help in continuing to make CloudReady a great product. Thanks for being a proud CloudReady user!
